Overview

The Best of Annapurna trek is a tailor-made route that bridges the gap between Nepal’s most iconic vistas and its best-kept secrets. The combination of Poon Hill, Khopra and Mohare Danda creates a perfect trekking experiences in a relatively shorter period.

Here is why this specific combination of Poonhill, Khopra and Mohare Danda stands out as the ultimate route:

Himalayan Viewpoints

This route hits three distinct types of panoramas that no other single trail provides:

Poon Hill (3,210m): The Iconic Sunrise. It offers the classic, world-famous view of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges glowing at dawn.

Mohare Danda (3,300m): The Peaceful Panorama. It offers a wider view that exceeds Poon Hill but with a fraction of the tourists.

Khopra Ridge (3,660m): The High-Alpine Edge which sits on a high, airy ridge. You look straight across the Kali Gandaki (the world’s deepest gorge) toward the massive 8,000m wall of Dhaulagiri.

The Perfect Balance of On and Off the Path

This route strategically combines Poonhill, Khopra and Mohare Danda to give you the best of both worlds:

The Main Trail: Trekking to Ghandruk, Ghorepani and Poon Hill, you experience the energy and infrastructure of the classic Annapurna route.

Off the beaten Trail: By branching off to Khopra and Mohare, you move from crowded teahouses to quiet trails through ancient rhododendron forests where you might not see another group for hours.

Community-Based Trekking

Unlike the heavily commercialized parts of the Annapurna Circuit, the Khopra and Mohare sections are part of a Community-Run Trekking Initiative.

Diverse Landscapes in a Short Time

  • Lowlands: Lush terraced farms and orange orchards.
  • Mid-lands: The world’s largest rhododendron forests (stunning in spring).
  • Highlands: Remote alpine pastures where yaks graze, leading up to the sacred, emerald-green Khayer Lake (4,660m).

This trek is graded Grade C which is a moderate trek.  Read more about our grading system
